Deep tissue massage benefits: when it fits and when it doesn't

Wellbeing 5 minJuly 5, 2026

Deep tissue massage has a reputation for being intense, and it's sometimes misread as 'the one that presses harder'. It's actually a precise technique that works the deep layers of muscle and connective tissue, with a clear goal: release tension other techniques can't reach.

What benefits it has

  • Relieves deep and chronic muscle tension
  • Breaks down knots and trigger points
  • Improves mobility and posture
  • Aids recovery after training

Who it's ideal for

It works great for people with tension from desk work, who do strength training, or carry stiffness from a while back. If your goal is purely to relax, a relaxing massage might suit you better.

When it's NOT the best option

Deep tissue should feel intense but tolerable, never a pain you grit your teeth through. And it's not ideal if you only want to switch off, or if you have certain medical conditions: mention it beforehand so we adjust the technique.

Pressure is always adjusted with you. If you want to try it, book on WhatsApp and tell us which area feels loaded.
